Indigo Junction’s Family Service has 5 on-site supported housing units, staffed by family support workers from 8am – 10pm, for families with parents under 25. These fully self-contained independent units contain 2-3 bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, living space and a private courtyard. Our team provide residents with housing and tenancy education as well as support to grow their parenting and independent living skills, helping them pave a pathway to independent living.
Indigo Junction has 19 community based transitional properties available to families of all ages and make ups. Families are assigned a Housing Support Worker who works with them to develop a tailored pathway plan toward secure housing – including building community connections, goal planning, tenancy education and referrals to required service providers.
Indigo Junction can provide supported crisis and transitional accommodation for women and children who are escaping family and domestic violence. The Koolkuna Women’s Refuge can accommodate up to 4 families at one time with a private bedroom and bathroom spaces and communal living areas. This holistic residential service allows women and children to increase their safety, improve their wellbeing, and take steps towards building a positive future. There are also a limited number of transitional houses based in the local area.
Our youth emergency housing consists of 6 places for young people within a secure, supervised environment. Each young person has a private bedroom and access to communal facilities. They also receive tailored support from our Youth Workers, who are on-site 24/7, around practical and wellbeing skills.
Indigo Junction’s supported transitional housing program helps young people transition from our crisis accommodation service to more stable, medium-term housing. We currently have 6 community-based sharehouses that can support up to 18 people at one time. An assigned Housing Support Worker assists the young person in further developing independent living skills, building community connections and linking in to the services and supports they require.
Indigo Junction’s NPAH housing support program assists people who are having difficulty securing or maintaining stable accommodation. People accessing the program are allocated a Housing Support Worker and together they create a long-term housing plan. Once the appropriate safe housing pathway has been identified, the Housing Support Worker assists each individual to develop the skills and capacity to live independently.
The Homeless Engagement, Assessment Response Team (HEART) outreach model connects people who are homeless and sleeping rough to basic and immediate needs, short term case management, triage and added to the By Name List. The HEART team is co-located within the accessible, well known and culturally safe Karnany building.
