Indigo Junction in partnership with the City of Swan held a mini-market lunch during Homelessness Week (5-11 August 2019).
The amazing atmosphere was set from the start thanks to the wonderful CBC crippled blind and crazy band who put on a great show.
For lunch there was a selection of pea and ham soup, kangaroo stew, beef stew, chicken curry or the Rapid Relief Team burgers; and our giveaway stand had plenty of clothes, shoes, blankets, towels, beanies, scarfs and toys to suit all tastes and ages.
The team at Crooked Spire Coffee House were there handing out their delicious coffees on the day, Seven-Eleven Midvale donated fresh muffins and plenty of water for all, and Ye Olde Ice Cream Van was a big hit for ALL of the kids (young and old alike) providing the very popular soft-serve ice cream.
Our hairdresser’s station proved another big hit with Hair by Michelle Carmen, Alana from Whitelion WA and Nitalie Delouse doing a fabulous job and some funky haircuts.
Midvale Hub Parenting Service kept the children occupied providing a fun and funky messy play station whilst Artist Deborah Ralph-Kafarela provided an art project for all ages.
The Street Doctor was also there to help improve the health and wellbeing of people who otherwise may be unable to access these services.
It was such a fun day and one we couldn’t have done without the wonderful businesses and members of the community who donated towards this event. We would like to say a special thanks to Shelter WA for allocating financial support for this event through their grant program and to our wonderful staff and volunteers who helped make this event possible!
