Koolkuna Healing Hub Family & Domestic Violence (FDV) Refuge

Indigo Junction has purchased land and completed a design concept to support for the development of 10 transitional units for women and children escaping family and domestic violence.

Using a “Core and Cluster” model of crisis accommodation, this design moves away from a traditional shared house environment to fully independent living quarters with private bathroom and kitchen facilities. It combines the services and support of a traditional refuge with the independent living facilities of transitional accommodation. Design principles focus strongly on safety and privacy with priority given to the creation of healing, therapeutic spaces that are child focused and create a sense of home.

While units are independent, families staying on site will be heavily supported, engaged in intensive case management and provided a range of wrap around supports. On site office and communal meeting spaces for visiting support services providers are a key feature of the design.

Indigo Junction has received Development Approval and has developed funding applications. We are aiming to commence this project in mid-2026.
