Support for vulnerable community members

Indigo Junction provides outreach, housing support and emergency assistance for people experiencing homelessness, crisis or vulnerability.

Our services focus on immediate needs, housing pathways and long-term stability through practical support and case management.


Homeless Engagement, Assessment Response Team (HEART) 

The Homeless Engagement, Assessment Response Team (HEART) is an outreach model that connects people sleeping rough or experiencing homelessness with immediate support and long-term housing pathways.

Based at the culturally safe and accessible Indigo Junction Karnany Engagement Hub, HEART provides:

  • Engagement and outreach for people sleeping rough
  • Assessment of immediate needs and risks
  • Short-term case management and support
  • Connection to the By-Name List housing system

The HEART team plays a key role in supporting people to access safe and appropriate housing options and improving long-term outcomes for rough sleepers.


NPAH Housing Support Program

Indigo Junction’s NPAH Housing Support Program assists people who are experiencing difficulty securing or maintaining stable accommodation.

Each participant is allocated a Housing Support Worker who works alongside them to:

  • Develop a long-term housing plan
  • Identify appropriate housing pathways
  • Build independent living skills
  • Strengthen capacity to maintain stable tenancy

This program focuses on supporting people to achieve sustainable housing outcomes through tailored, ongoing support.


Emergency Relief

(Conditions and eligibility apply)

Emergency relief is available by appointment and provides short-term support for people in crisis.

Support may include:

  • Food vouchers
  • Pharmacy vouchers
  • Utility and part bill assistance
  • Food bank vouchers and referrals
  • One-off travel assistance
  • Rough sleeper meals and drinks
  • Material aid

Homelessness Support and Advocacy

Indigo Junction provides advocacy and support to help people navigate crisis and housing systems.

Support is delivered by:

  • Homelessness Support Advocates – providing advocacy, referrals and practical support
  • NPAH Housing Support Workers – providing tenancy support and housing pathway assistance
