Koolkuna Women’s Refuge

Indigo Junction can provide supported crisis and transitional accommodation for women and children escaping family and domestic violence.

The Koolkuna Women’s Refuge can accommodate up to four families at a time, offering private bedroom and bathroom spaces alongside communal living areas.

This holistic residential service supports women and children to:

• Increase their safety
• Improve their wellbeing
• Stabilise after crisis
• Take steps toward a positive, independent future

A limited number of transitional houses are also available in the local area, providing continued support as families move toward longer-term housing.

Bindi Bindi Mia Refuge

Bindi Bindi Mia is a newer refuge service providing safe, supported accommodation for women and children.

The property includes five bedrooms and two bathrooms, allowing for flexible intake depending on each household’s needs. The service can accommodate women with children, single women, and pregnant women, subject to suitability.

Residents are supported through:

• Case management and support work
• Child advocacy services
• On-site staffing across weekdays and weekends
• An on-call support service

While the refuge is not staffed 24/7, on-site support is available into the evening, with shifts currently concluding at 8:00pm.

Bindi Bindi Mia complements the Koolkuna Women’s Refuge by expanding access to safe, flexible and supportive accommodation for those escaping family and domestic violence.
