Karnany is an open-door service for people experiencing homelessness, sleeping rough or facing crisis. It provides a safe and supportive environment where people can share their story, access practical assistance and connect with services.

Karnany provides community support services, specialising in emergency relief and homelessness support in the City of Swan and surrounding areas.

 

Services available

  • Emergency Relief (Conditions and eligibility apply)
  • Homelessness triage support, information and referrals
  • Housing and tenancy support
  • Family and domestic violence support and referrals
  • Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) support
  • Referrals to housing, health and community support services
  • Access to shower and laundry facilities when available

 

Emergency Relief

Emergency Relief is available by appointment only and may include:

  • Food vouchers
  • Pharmacy 777 vouchers
  • Part bill payments
  • Foodbank vouchers and referrals
  • One-off travel assistance
  • Material aid
  • Rough sleeper meals and drinks

Eligibility criteria apply. We are currently able to provide Emergency Relief support to people who live within the:

  • City of Swan
  • Town of Bassendean
  • Shire of Mundaring

Shower and Laundry Facilities

People experiencing homelessness are welcome to access shower and laundry facilities when staff are available and have capacity. Please speak with a Triage Worker about availability.

  • Street Law Centre WA – Legal Support
  • 360 Street Doctor – Medical Support
  • Mission Australia – NDIS Application Support (fortnightly)

Tuesdays (1:15pm–1:45pm)

  • Foodbank Truck – Low-cost meals and food hampers

Thursdays (9:00am–4:00pm)

  • Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) – Counselling for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Karlup Engagement Hub

Karlup is a welcoming community space designed to support connection, wellbeing and access to services.

The hub includes:

  • A modern kitchen
  • Shower and laundry facilities
  • Private meeting rooms
  • Flexible office and consultation spaces

Karlup provides a calm and supportive environment for people accessing Indigo Junction’s youth and family and domestic violence services, while also offering facilities that can be used by community members and partner organisations.

The hub is also home to the Moorditj Maaman Men’s Group, which has established a yarning circle and outdoor gathering space used for community events, consultations and cultural activities.
