Garden is Go!

Garden is Go!

Last Friday, young people and staff gathered for a sundowner to celebrate the grand opening of the new Indi House garden.

With mocktails in hand and delicious “house-made” snacks, guests were given a tour of the garden that young people have created over the past 8 months.  The boring old backyard has been transformed into a peaceful place with beautiful plants, spaces to relax, a pond and art work created by young people.  Young people have been actively involved in planning, design, budgeting, purchasing and the dreaded digging!  They have done a great job and are very proud of their achievements.

A special thanks must go to our maintenance officers, the Moorditj Yards crew and of course, project champion, Julia.  This team supported the young people with technical advice and helped keep up the levels of motivation and enthusiasm.

This garden project was supported by a grant from the Department of Local Government and Communities through their Youth Activity Grant program.
